Short Term Groups

These groups are a great way to get a taste of group life and grow to become more like Jesus.  No matter where you are in life, there is a group for you. We have groups for couples, women, men, young adults, single mom’s and more.  New groups will be offered in the fall, winter, and spring.  




Alex Kendrick: The Battle Plan for Prayer

Led by Nancy Bishop

Thursday morning 9:15 – 11:15am, beginning January 12 at Nancy’s house: 323 NE Lakes Edge Circle, Lee’s Summit 64064. Thus study is designed to help followers of Christ become more devoted to prayer and to faithfully and effectively wield the weapon of prayer in the battles and seasons of life.  It will help you develop targeted prayer strategies for your life. 8 Lessons. Wednesday morning 9:45 -11:45 am, beginning February 22.  Room 209. God renews His covenant promise with Abraham through Isaac and Jacob. Lisa Harper: Believing Jesus

Kelly Minter: What Love Is

Wednesday morning 9:45 -11:45 am, beginningMarch8.  East Auditorium.  The Letters of 1,2 &3 John were written to encourage followers of Jesus to remain faithful to the truth.  As we take steps to know and become like Jesus we are challenged to look at contrasting themes such as walking in the light instead of darkness, truth versus lies and deception, loving God more than loving the world, and more.  7 Lessons.  Cost: $ 13.


Beth Moore: When Godly People Do Ungodly Things

Thursday night, 6:30-8 pm, beginning January 12.  Room 243.  Beth Moore examines why devoted followers of Christ can fall into the traps of Satan. This six-week women's Bible study is written in three parts. The first part is a warning to believers, while the second part shows women how to prepare for attacks by the Enemy. The third part is directed to those who have been snared by seduction, and compassionately points the way back to God. 6 Lessons.  Cost: $17.

Single Mom’s Group – Take Responsibility for Your Life by Andy Stanley

Wednesday night, 6:00-8 pm, beginning January 11.  Room 243.  Responsibility is not a zero-sum game. If you don't follow through on your responsibilities, someone else in your life has to pick up the slack. Neglect washing your dishes long enough and someone else eventually does it. Refuse to pitch in on childcare and your ex- spouse is left to fill in for you. Be encouraged. Be challenged.  Enjoy Community.

MIT (Men in Training)  | Led by Doug Brown

Thursday morning, 6:30 -7:30 am, beginning January 5. LSCC Café.  We will be studying the life of Joshua from the OT Book of Joshua.  Along with reading the story of Joshua from the Bible we will use as a reference a book by Alan Redpath titled, "Victorious Christian Living".   Joshua challenges us to move forward away from our fears and raise our standard of living to Gods. Coffee and Panera bagels/pastries are provided.

Non-Financial Retirement Planning Workshop – One Night | Led by Jerry Johnson

Wednesday night, January 18, from 6:30 to 9 pm, at LSCC Café.  This workshop looks at the non-financial considerations important for the successful transition into the world of retirement.  Participants will come away with the beginnings of a retirement plan that addresses their retirement priorities.  Individuals and couples age 50 and up, including recent retirees will find this and eye opening experience.

You'll build strong, accountable relationships with other Christians as you share how weekly readings in the Bible and other course materials are transforming you from being a "Fan" to being a "Follower" of Jesus. Trail Life| Led by Tony Lambert

Trail Life USA is a Christian Outdoor Adventure.  Character and Leadership Program for boys and young men in grades K-12 that centers on outdoor experiences that build a young man’s skills and allow him to grow on a personal level and as a role model and leader for his peers.  We meet the first and third Tuesday evenings at LSCC in room 240-242. 6:30-8 pm, starting January 3.  There is a $26 annual registration fee and $29 troop fee per trailman.  For more information contact Tony Lambert at 816-678-7525 or
