Community Kids - Sunday School and Kids Activities

Are you looking for a place for your child to experience God in a personal, creative, and relevant way? Community Kids is our Sunday school children’s ministry for infants through 5th grade.

Community Kids meets on Sunday mornings at 9:00AM and 10:30AM and provides a safe and fun environment where kids actively engage in building community and learn who Jesus is in a relevant, age-appropriate way.

What Can Your Kids Expect at Community Kids

Depending on age, your kids’ morning may look slightly different but still ultimately be a safe and fun atmosphere.

Early Childhood (Infant Through Pre-K)

The phase when sleep is minimal, being on time is near impossible, and countless hours are spent playing in imaginary lands.

Infants and Toddlers

Our Community Kids team will take excellent care of your little one while you attend the adult worship gathering. Our leaders focus on creating an environment where kids feel safe and play happens with a purpose, helping kids experience the love and care of God.

Please label all diaper bags and personal items.

2’s, 3’s and Pre-K

Kids will start in their classroom with activities that introduce the Bible story, then move to Ollie’s Clubhouse for a time of large group worship, learning Bible verses, and hearing a Bible story. Kids will return to their classroom for a snack, small group prayer, and activities that reinforce the Bible story.

Elementary (Kindergarten – 5th Grade)

The phase when life becomes a stage, nothing seems impossible, friends become best-friends, and actions speak louder than words.

1st Through 5th Grade

Your kids will start in small groups with other kids of the same grade. All grades will then come together for Club 252 - a large group time of high-energy worship led by our Community Kids worship team, and an interactive Bible teaching. After Club 252, children will return to their classrooms to participate in small group activities that reinforce the Bible story, practice Discovery Bible Study, and pray together.

Discipleship for Community Kids

Our children’s ministry is passionate about equipping and empowering parents to spiritually lead their families every day of the week. We believe that the primary place for spiritual influence, development, and discipleship starts in the home. Our hope is to encourage and help equip parents, to introduce kids to other adult leaders who show Jesus through the way they lead and invest in kids and families, and to help kids engage with age-appropriate teaching and community so they learn how to hear God’s voice and what it means to follow Him.

Our Community Kids leaders are committed to partnering with parents as you own your role as primary disciple-maker and raise your child(ren) with real, transformational, Christ-centered faith that lasts into adulthood.

Be sure to connect with us through our Community Kids Facebook group for links to resources and upcoming news about Community Kids!

Checking Into Community Kids as a First-time Guest

When you visit for the first time, please plan to arrive at least 10 minutes early and make your way to our Community Kids Check-In kiosk. One of our friendly volunteers will help get your kids checked in by asking you to answer a few questions about your family: your name, phone number, child(ren)’s name and birthday, and any allergies or special instructions we should know about.

Each checked-in child will receive a name tag with a security code. Parents will receive a matching security code. If for any reason we need to contact you during the service, your child’s security code will appear next to the screens in the Worship Center. We will also send a text to the phone number provided. If you see your child’s security code, please exit the Worship Center and head to their room.

For the safety of the children in our care, parents must have their security code for pick-up. If you no longer have your security code, you will be asked to show your ID to our Kids Security Team.

Beyond Sunday Morning

Heritage Club

We believe that generational influence matters! Discipleship happens in the context of community, and Heritage Club facilitates opportunities for both parents and kids to grow in relationships with older generations.

Heritage Club offers a variety of opportunities for generations to come together to eat, play, pray, and serve together. The Heritage Club gathers at various times throughout the year and is communicated well in advance.

Milestones

A milestone is a significant event that ushers in a phase of life and creates opportunities for discipleship and growing in community. As your child grows and matures, there are key milestones in which we’d love to partner with you in the discipleship rhythms of your family.

Child Dedication

Child dedication is celebrated at a special reception for parents and extended spiritual family members. As primary spiritual influencers, parents will make disciple-making commitments to help the child learn to know who Jesus is, how to hear His voice, and what it means to live as a disciple who follows Jesus. Extended spiritual family members will also be encouraged to make commitments to support and encourage parents, as well as serve as a disciple-maker for the child.

If you would like to participate in our next Child Dedication celebration, contact Michelle Browning, LS Community Kids Pastor, This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Kindergarten Transition

The first day of school is a big deal, and we want to celebrate with you and your child! Most kids begin reading on their own at this phase, making this a great opportunity to help equip families to explore Scripture together. Each child will receive an age-appropriate Bible as part of a special presentation during our Community Kids Sunday large-group gathering.

Baptism

Your child may decide to follow Jesus and desire to be baptized. We want to celebrate that decision with you! If your child is interested in getting baptized, or if you’d like resources to help guide conversations about salvation and baptism, please contact This email address is being protected from spambots.
