Just like you, we too have a story at Lee’s Summit Community Church. Our story is deeply rooted in learning to hear and obey God and faithfully loving the people in our community.
How Lee’s Summit Community Church Got Started
Lee’s Summit Community Church began in 1988 when a small group of people decided to start a church. Originally holding services in the gymnasium of Prairie View Elementary in Lee’s Summit, the church had the goal to bring people together in community with the shared desire to know and follow Jesus. Founding members made thousands of phone calls across Lee’s Summit to ask if they had a church home and invite them to service at Lee’s Summit Community Church. Hundreds showed up that first Sunday and, although we did eventually buy our own church building at our current location, we never stopped the focus on our community and the desire to see lives transformed by Jesus.
Today, over 35 years later, Lee’s Summit Community Church has a vision to make disciples makers who saturate Lee’s Summit with the Gospel, or good news, of Jesus. Simply put, we want every man, woman and child in Lee’s Summit, MO to have the opportunity to hear the good news of Jesus and to follow. To do this, we extend our focus beyond Sunday service to build up an extended spiritual family that can share the Gospel with people in their unique circles where they live, work, and play.
